U.S. Rep. Jim McGovern this week endorsed Democratic candidate Elizabeth Warren for the United States Senate.

Warren is running for the seat occupied by Republican Sen. Scott Brown.

“Elizabeth Warren is a strong champion of progressive values and a powerful advocate for America’s middle class,” said McGovern, who announced the endorsement after visiting Worcester with the candidate. “Massachusetts needs Elizabeth’s voice in the United States Senate to take on Wall Street and the other powerful interests in Washington.”

McGovern, D-3rd, is currently serving his eighth term in Congress.

“Congressman McGovern has fought tirelessly on behalf of Massachusetts’ families during his time in Congress,” Warren said. “I look forward to working with him to get our economy moving again and to help rebuild our middle class.”
