Cheryl Ede Gets PDA Metro San Diego's Nod in CA 50

March 10, 2008, San Diego, CA

On February 21 Cheryl Ede and Nick Leibham went head-to-head, vying to obtain our CA 50 Endorsement. At the end of the day, Cheryl Ede's progressive values came through loud and clear, winning her a decisive victory.

Cheryl, a San Diegan since 1975, received her Doctorate in Education from Oklahoma State University and has been a leader in the San Diego city schools as a school and clinical psychologist.

Cheryl's Democratic and progressive values are not new. An admirer of JFK, Robert Kennedy and Martin Luther King, Cheryl has had her eye on the political scene ever since.

When Bush decided to go into Iraq, Cheryl, like Barack Obama, did not fall for his preemptive war. When Bush vetoed the Children's Health Care Initiative and Bilbray, who currently represents the district, did not vote to override, Cheryl's mind was made up. She would run. She is staunchly in favor of universal health care.

CA 50 was Randy “Duke” Cunningham's old territory, and the campaign ground of Francine Busby in 2006, as she nearly defeated conservative Republican Brian Bilbray. We came close last time and may yet seize this district, especially in light of Cheryl unapologetically speaking her progressive ideals for our endorsement. Her straight talk could win over CA 50 voters this year.

In contrast to her primary opponent, Cheryl offers a clear and viable alternative to Bilbray. Cheryl vigorously supports our positions and “walks the walk”-she owns a “Smart Car” and has installed solar panels on her home. She is adamant about ending excessive executive power and global domination.

PDA Metro is glad to endorse Cheryl Ede. She needs us, and we need her.
