March 14, 2006--Upper Bucks for Democracy and the Bucks County Chapter of Progressive Democrats of America have endorsed Chuck Pennacchio's candidacy for the U.S. Senate. The chapter supported Pennacchio because he is the best candidate to represent the issues that matter most to Pennsylvania voters:

Pennacchio's positions on these and other issues reflect the deep convictions he has articulated publicly since he became a candidate for Senate in 2004 (see www.chuck2006.com for details).
In a recent Zogby poll Pennacchio came out ahead of Democratic candidates Bob Casey Jr. and Alan Sandals and incumbent Republican Sen. Rick Santorum when voters were informed each of the candidates' positions on the issues. (See http://www.zogby.com/soundbites/ReadClips.dbm?ID=12591 and http://www.chuck2006.com/info.asp?content=zogbypoll.)
Pennacchio's chief opponent in the Democratic primary, Casey, differs from him on all of these issues. Casey differs from Santorum mainly on party label. This is just not good enough for progressive Democrats.
In stark contrast with Pennacchio, Casey has not shown himself to be a principled politician. In fact, the contrary is true. The AFL-CIO endorsed Casey because they thought he was a friend of the worker. But then Casey volunteered an endorsement of the Supreme Court nomination of Samuel Alito, a judge with one of the worst records ever on worker and employee rights. Clearly he is not a true friend of the worker. Clearly he is not a principled man. Chuck Pennacchio, who is a principled man, would never have betrayed Pennsylvania workers to endorse Judge Alito for the Supreme Court.
Pennacchio teaches and understands foreign policy and national security. He will work to reverse the doctrine of pre emptive war, to protect and defend our country against terrorism by building security at home and international cooperation abroad.
We can rely on Pennacchio because he strongly principled and has the courage of his convictions. He cannot be bought, he will not betray us. Whereas the Democratic Party leadership in Washington has largely abandoned principles in order to win at any cost and openly admits that money is the only thing that matters in elections, Pennacchio fights for his convictions and ours, and accepts no PAC money.
A victory for Pennacchio would be a victory for all of us, and when in our history have we ever needed senators like Chuck Pennacchio more? We believe that he is the only candidate we can trust to represent us. Bob Casey Jr. cannot be relied on to represent us or our values. Chuck Pennacchio can.
Please go to www.chuck2006.com and learn about this "Paul Wellstone candidate" from Pennsylvania, and his clearly articulated convictions, principles and positions on the issues.
