Progressive Democrats of America in Florida, please support our endorsed candidates. We are now in the final weeks of a campaign to pull our nation out of a dangerous course set by the Republican administration. Your votes will help, but candidates need volunteers and funds to overcome incumbents with pockets full of money from war profiteers, oil, insurance, pharmaceuticals, you name it.
These corporations don't need representation, You do!
Comments from our candidates:
John Russell:"I am running for Congress because those who are charged with representing the interests of myself, and others like me... clearly are not. Current office holders such as my opponent Virginia Brown-Waite in the 5th District instead represent the interests of the powerful and the corporations to the near total disregard of working Americans.
As a U.S. Representative I want to insure that everyone has access to quality affordable health care irrespective of their economic circumstances. I also want to make certain that medicine remains an attractive career choice for those with the talent, drive and ability to become the kind of physicians that we would want to take care of us."
... I will work to get American soldiers out of Iraq ASAP!, I will not be adverse to voting affirmatively, relative to holding accountable, those officials currently in office whose decisions have squandered American lives and resources... on behalf of corporate corruption and malfeasance... misleading the American people into the debacle that is the war in Iraq." John Russell Candidate Fl CD 05
Dave Bruderly: "We must protect the constitution and restore respect for American laws and political institutions. Ours is a nation of laws created to give equal opportunities for success to all, while our government protects our families and helps us thrive. I support the creation of a nonpartisan commission to investigate and document actions, intelligence, policies and decisions that led the Administration to seek, and the Congress to approve, the invasion and occupation of Iraq. I support a full, nonpartisan investigation of events that led to the failure to properly evacuate New Orleans and the Gulf South prior to Hurricane Katrina, and the subsequent failure to properly rescue or supply survivors of that storm.
I support a nonpartisan investigation of government contract mismanagement during the Iraq Occupation, the Post-Katrina response and the War on Terror.
I support America, anchored in the integrity of our Constitution and Bill of Rights. I will fight and vote to protect the liberties our forefathers won with their "Lives, their Fortunes and their sacred Honor. Dave Bruderly Candidate for Fl CD 06
Phyllis Busansky: “Congress does not make war policy – but it is responsible for holding our leaders accountable; and this Congress has failed. The brave men and women serving in Iraq deserve accountability and they deserve a new strategy to complete our mission. Secretary Rumsfeld should be fired; greedy contractors who unpatriotically steal from taxpayers need to be held accountable; and we need to look at a three-state solution to avoid civil war and allow us to bring our troops home.
I decided to run for office because our Congress has failed to act responsibly and make us proud of our government. Time and time again, the current leadership has taken care of powerful special interests rather than making government work for the people. I will put your interests first and work to make your life better. I will fight to pass laws that will end corruption in Washington and significantly reduce the influence of lobbyists. I will not accept gifts or trips from any lobbyist. I will be there for you as I have always been in the past.” Phyllis Busansky Candidate for Fl CD 09
Samm Simpson: "America stands at the crossroads. Let’s remember that although each individual is responsible for his or her own destiny, no one makes it through this lifetime without a little help. Let’s not harshly judge the poor, the downtrodden, the mentally ill and the addicted.Let’s reform our prison system and the punitive punishments that snuff the hopes of thousands sent to jail on non-violent charges. America stands at the crossroads. The damage done by this administration may take decades to repair. But, with a new vision for truth, for hope, for fiscal responsibility and global cooperation, we can make a new way. Let’s make a better world for our grandchildren. America is at a crossroads. We cannot stay the course. It is time for a change." Samm Simpson Candidate for Fl CD 10
Dr. Bob Bowman: "I envision an America that leads the world, not with military force, but with its vision, its compassion, its democracy, its freedom, its standard of living, its care for the global environment, its treatment of its own people, and its goodness. It is an America whose government serves the needs of the people, not the greed of multinational corporations and their K Street lobbyists. It is an America in which elected officials, at all levels, see their offices as a chance to serve their fellow Americans, not as an opportunity to line their own pockets. It is an America in which every person (regardless of their race, creed, color, age, or sexual orientation) is valued and lives in dignity, every person is cared for, every person is free to choose his or her life partner, and every person is free to reach his or her full potential." Dr. Bob Bowman Candidate for the Fl CD 15
Dave Patlak: "We need a new direction for our country and we hold President Bush and his rubber stamp Republican Congress accountable, including Rep. Ros-Lehtinen, the incumbent, who voted with the Bush 92% of the time.
I will be a check and balance on what is happening in Washington. The current scandals only highlight what is wrong with our representation and the reality of their policies both at home and overseas. I want to bring positive change for our District and around the world.
A new direction for America. National Windstorm insurance. Redeploy our troops out of the Iraqi civil war. My opponent votes for the Bush failed policy "stay the course". I want a minimum wage raise; she keeps it below poverty level.
Replace a rubber stamp Republican with a thinking Democrat--your vote will change the United States." Dave Patlak Candidate for the Fl CD 18
Clint Curtis: "As a computer programmer at the Yang Enterprises, I was requested in 2000 to design a prototype of a program to manipulate the vote by Representative Tom Feeney who was their lobbyist and chief council at the time. When I designed the program, I thought I was protecting the vote. When I was told it was to manipulate the vote, I quite my job and testified before Congress and passed a lie detector
test to this information. I have worked for the past five years to expose this and other corruption.
I am running for US Congress in District 24 against Tom Feeney to expose election fraud and corruption at its roots, here in central Florida. I stand with other whistle blowers who have risked their careers, their
reputations and, in some cases, their personal safety, to tell the truth and expose corruption in government and business. We believe in the American values of honesty, ethics, justice, fairness, equality, and integrity. In Congress, I will fight to restore these values in our government and policies, and to hold accountable those who have abused the trust, safety, and goodwill of the American people."
Clint Curtis Candidate for Fl CD 24
Michael Calderin: "My name is Michael Calderin. How can I help you? That's what elected officials should be asking you. When was the last time you thought of a politician as a public servant? All my life, I've enjoyed the benefits of our community; now I'm ready and able to serve. I'm not a politician. I listen, then solve problems by uniting and leading. I'm running for Congress because I don't think good government should be a partisan issue and because I understand the drive of young adults, the difficulties of our parents, the health care and physical frustrations of the elderly, the desperation of immigrants, the determination of single parents, the pride of the entrepreneur, the spirit of working people, and both the abilities and limitations of technology. I have the desire, optimism, and energy to improve all our lives. Michael Calderin
Here is another way for you to make a difference:
PDA is working hard to make our candidates vision of America a reality but for that we need to end the awful Iraqi war. You can help by giving the new Democratic congress a bill to cut off all funding for the War in Iraq. Rep Jim McGovern is the principal sponsor of the bill, and he needs hundreds of thousand of signatures to present to newly elected representatives.
Please tell your family and friends, you can make history this November!
If you have signed the petition, we thank you and ask you to please forward this message.
