Reports from New York:
Progressive Democrats March in Protest

August 29, 2004-- Submitted by Sherry Bohlen, Arizona Democratic Progressive Caucus

The RNC protest march was incredible – a once in a life-time event! Marchers began parading past Madison Square Garden at noon and--at 4:30--they're still passing by! There have to be hundreds of thousands of people here! The march was vibrant, colorful and diverse. And it was overwhelmingly non-violent. We saw only one person arrested. We met people from across the country and around the world.

Jeff Cohen (FAIR) marched with us and carried the PDA banner. We saw Jesse Jackson and Charlie Rangel. God Bless C- Span... when we got back to our hotel room for a much needed rest, we were able to watch the end of the march on C-Span. It was still going on--two hours after we got back to our room!

Tonight we're going to a round-table discussion with other peace and social justice activists. I’ll send another update tomorrow. There are back-to-back events, actions and marches all week! Exciting doesn’t say enough!
