PDA, Rep. Conyers and Tony Trupiano Rock the House in Michigan!

September 2, 2006, Detroit, MI

The Michigan State Democratic Party Convention took place during the weekend of August 26-27, 2006 in Downtown Detroit. PDA endorsed candidate Tony Trupiano was thrilled to welcome to the convention for the first time PDA state coordinator Sandy Pfister and PDA Executive Director Tim Carpenter. The PDA presence was enthusiastically received by the 3000 attendees to the convention with Tim, Sandy, Tony and many others introducing PDA to many new Progressives whom were all very excited by what PDA is doing.

Tim Carpenter was front as center in handing out stickers for PDA and engaging many people in discussion about the War in Iraq, social responsibility and what it means to be authentically progressive. Hundreds of people walked away from the convention interested in PDA and more importantly, getting involved with PDA. The excitement was real and honest.

PDA Board member Congressman John Conyers was also in attendance and spoke to a convention crowd that that greeted him with a standing ovation, recognizing his commitment to leadership, accountability, and his hunger for real change.

Tony Trupiano also had an opportunity to address the convention delegates and rocked the house with his message to take the fight to the Republican machine and win one for the Progressives.

There is a reason why PDA continues to grow and retain new membership; because PDA is making change happen NOW. That was very evident at the convention.
