Make Calls to Ratify the ERA in Illinois - Vote is Tuesday

Written by  Jeanne Dauray

The ERA is on the verge of being ratified in IL. Victory is hinging on a handful of votes being decided by Representatives who need to hear from their own constituents. We have a list of IL constituents who need to be called and asked to call their Reps. to tell them to vote YES on ERA ratification on Tuesday, Dec. 2nd. We need YOU to help make those calls. Please respond back, tell us how many calls you are willing to make between now and Monday evening as well as your preference for a paper list or computer. Thanks! This is truly the most important action we can take to move the ERA forward!

We need your help now! The final vote on the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) in the Illinois State Legislature will likely be Tuesday, December 2nd. This is the last full day of session and likely our last chance to get it done in 2014. If we leave it until January, we will have to start all over again. Now, this vote depends on two things: 1) Having the last handful of YES commitments for votes from Illinois State Representatives - we need five - and 2) Those Representatives showing up for the vote.

What can you do? Make calls, share this email, and donate to pay for the lists!

  • CALL - We need to make 5,700 calls made to constituents in the legislators' districts in the next 72 hours. Legislators have said they want to hear from their constituents, but many constituents are unaware that the ERA is up for a vote. Can you call 50 or more people from our carefully selected list and ask constituents to call their legislator?
