Colorado's Affordable Care Act/Obamacare exchange/marketplace website went on-line October 1, so I was anxious to find relief from the high premiums and also to find coverage that might actually fit my needs better as I enter a period for more diagnostics and potential treatments. Well, that was not to be.
We drove to Colorado Springs yesterday to start work on a new chapter of Health Care for All Colorado. HCAC is working to achieve health care reform under an improved and expanded Medicare for all for life system. In order to achieve that goal, we must build grassroots support and capacity for political action. It is good to see the organization reaching out.
PDA is and will always be in the forefront, fighting to achieve universal access to care.
It is a moral outrage for a country as wealthy as ours to leave 60 million people with no reliable access to health care and tens of millions more with inadequate or overly expensive coverage. In addition, despite spending nearly twice as much as other developed nations on health care, our system performs poorly, because the private U.S. insurance bureaucracy soaks up as much as one-third of all the money and pharmaceutical interests overburden America by avoiding price competition.
