NOW/PAC is thrilled to announce its endorsement of Democratic candidate Elizabeth Warren for the U. S. Senate from the state of Massachusetts. Warren is the most prominent of the three Democrats vying to run against incumbent Sen. Scott Brown (R) in the general election. Recent polls show Warren neck and neck with Brown.

An attorney and law professor at Harvard for nearly 20 years, The National Law Journal named Warren one of The Decade's Most Influential Lawyers in 2010, and Time Magazine honored her on its list of the 100 Most Influential People in the world in 2009 and 2010.

Warren made her mark working on economic justice issues. In 2008, Warren was appointed to chair the five-member Congressional Oversight Panel created to oversee the implementation of the Troubled Asset Relief Program. Her independent and tireless efforts to protect taxpayers, to hold Wall Street accountable, and to ensure tough oversight of both the Bush and Obama administrations won praise from both sides of the aisle. It was Warren who pushed for the establishment of an independent federal agency to protect ordinary borrowers from abuses by lenders.

Warren is widely credited for the original thinking, political courage, and relentless persistence that led to the creation of the new Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. She led the establishment of the agency, building an organization that would hold accountable trillion-dollar financial institutions and protect consumers from tricks and traps often hidden in mortgages, credit cards and other financial products.

A strong supporter of reproductive rights, women's economic security and LGBT rights, Warren will use her considerable skills to fight for women's rights on Capitol Hill.
