Arizona’s CD-1 is important to Tucson because it and Grijalva’s CD-7 form the northern and western boundaries of Giffords’ CD-8, and thus for CD-8 to change requires a give and take with either of these two districts.

CD-1 stretches from the Pinal-Pima county line (except for Saddlebrooke) all the way north to Flagstaff and the Four Corners, making it the largest congressional district that is not an entire state.

There is a possibility that Saddlebrooke and parts of Northern Pima County may move into CD-1 depending on redistricting.

Congressman Raul Grijalva will be help make history by holding a fundraiser for Wenona Benally Baldenegro, who if elected will become the first American Indian woman elected to Congress.

After graduating with honors from Arizona State University and getting a law degree from Harvard, Wenona is certainly well qualified to be a lawmaker representing the Arizona district that she grew up in.

From Kayenta to Congress, there is hope for Arizona in 2012!
