The Wall Street Journal reports that Romney's campaign will begin raising funds jointly with the Republican National Committee this week and will shift its fundraising focus from the primary campaign to the general election. Essentially, that move will allow high-rolling donors to up their donations to $75,000, compared to the $2,500 limit for individual donations to a presidential campaign.

The RNC invited all the candidates still in the running to raise funds jointly with the party, but Romney is the only candidate to accept the offer. Santorum told the Journal that the "would be happy to raise money with the RNC," but had no plans to follow Romney's lead at the moment.

As Slate's Dave Weigel explained Monday, the polls are in Romney's favor going into Tuesday's trio of nominating contests: Romney has a 2-to-1 lead in Maryland and a 7-point lead in Wisconsin, and is on pace for an easy win in D.C., where Rick Santorum isn't even on the ballot. 

Both candidates have made it clear that Tuesday's key primary is Wisconsin, where the most delegates are up for grabs: 46. Maryland has 37 delegates, and like Wisconsin, will distribute them based on both who wins overall and who wins by district. D.C. will give its 16 delegates to whomever wins the primary.

As CBS News notes, despite Romney's pivot towards taking on President Obama in the fall, Santorum has vowed to stay in the race no matter what happens in Wisconsin.
