Barbara Lee Congratulates President Obama and Thanks 13th Congressional District

Written by  Congresswoman Barbara Lee

Oakland, CA – Congresswoman Barbara Lee (D-CA) issued the following statement regarding the 2012 election results: "I want to thank the people of the 13th Congressional District for their resounding support in re-electing me to the United States Congress. It is such a tremendous honor to serve the most vibrant, forward-thinking and diverse constituency in the country.

"I want to congratulate President Obama and all of those who worked to secure his re-election victory. The nation has spoken and they voted to move America forward. I am also pleased that Democrats retained the majority in the U.S. Senate tonight. Unfortunately, we saw the twin Republican advantages of redistricting and money combined to prevent substantial gains for Democrats in the House. Clearly, we will have our work cut out for us, but we can and must come together to move our nation forward."

CWA devised a simple plan for which they were uniquely suited: drag TPP out of the shadows and into the light - one city at a time - using a medium they understand intimately: Daily Newspapers!

Two CWA members - Dave Felice in Denver, CO and Madelyn Elder in Portland, OR have started the ball rolling. We just need to keep up the momentum leading up to a big day of petition deliveries in January.

Hand Deliver a Letter to your Senators or Representative on the TPP

If your Senator(s) and/or Representative is not currently opposed to Fast Track, they may not completely understand all the implications. Nothing sends a stronger message to a Congressional member than a personal visit to a district office by a voter with a written request. Phone calls and emails are incredibly important but nothing gets attention like a personal visit. Our Educate Congress page has information and a sample letter. Print the letter, sign it, deliver it.
