Norman Solomon's campaign for California's new North Coast Congressional district (CA-02) released the results of the most recently conducted poll in the race, showing Solomon in second place in the 12-way contest, in which the top two finishers in June's primary election will advance to the November general election.

The poll of 500 voters -- conducted last week by the highly respected polling firm Lake Research Partners -- illustrates Norman Solomon and Jared Huffman are positioned to secure the top two spots in the June election.

The poll results show Susan Adams in third place and Stacey Lawson a distant fourth just above the other eight candidates in the race.

"I'm pleased with the results of the just-completed poll in our race," Norman Solomon said.  "Our second-place standing affirms that voters are responding very positively to our grassroots campaign -- appreciating that I am an independent, progressive Democrat who will represent their interests in Congress," he continued.

Norman Solomon has refused to accept any contributions from corporate political action committees (PACs) or lobbyists to fund his campaign. Solomon has more than 5,100 individual contributors supporting his campaign with an average donation of less than $100 each, and he has more than 1,000 volunteers engaged in his campaign.

With less than six weeks remaining until the June 5 election, the polling data show that Solomon only needs to complete his message delivery to the voters of the 2nd Congressional District to earn a top-two finish and advance to the November general election. Solomon's massive grassroots campaign coupled with ample resources for media delivery put him in excellent position for advancement.

"Our polling shows Norman Solomon wins in June," declared Tom Higgins, Solomon's political consultant. "It is also most interesting that despite representing almost half of the new Congressional district population while in the State Assembly for the past nearly six years, Huffman can't secure even 20 percent of the committed vote in this election," continued Higgins. "And Lawson's only hope is to buy this election, but her numbers were in the basement even before her Meg Whitman problem of making millions while not bothering to vote in most elections was widely reported throughout the district by the media," concluded Higgins.

CWA devised a simple plan for which they were uniquely suited: drag TPP out of the shadows and into the light - one city at a time - using a medium they understand intimately: Daily Newspapers!

Two CWA members - Dave Felice in Denver, CO and Madelyn Elder in Portland, OR have started the ball rolling. We just need to keep up the momentum leading up to a big day of petition deliveries in January.

Step 1 is to send an Op-Ed to your Daily Newspaper.

Hand Deliver a Letter to your Senators or Representative on the TPP

If your Senator(s) and/or Representative is not currently opposed to Fast Track, they may not completely understand all the implications. Nothing sends a stronger message to a Congressional member than a personal visit to a district office by a voter with a written request. Phone calls and emails are incredibly important but nothing gets attention like a personal visit. Our Educate Congress page has information and a sample letter. Print the letter, sign it, deliver it.
